A cruise from Colon gives you the chance to explore this exciting, small Caribbean province in Panama that’s packed with natural splendor and historical gems. For incredible views, trek through the tropical forests of Portobelo National Park to the impressive 17th century Fort San Lorenzo, which was overtaken by Henry Morgan’s pirates. Visit the town of La Guaira to fuel your senses with traditional dishes, artwork from local artisans, Calypso music and Congo dances. And be sure to check out the Agua Clara Visitor’s Center before you cruise to get a close look at the inner workings of the Panama Canal considered an engineering marvel.
Your ship departs promptly at 4:00 pm, so plan to arrive at least 2-3 hours early to account for checking in and boarding protocols. During this time, many of the ship's amenities are open and operating, so feel free to start your vacation early.

Cartagena de Indias boasts romantic colonial architecture and a Caribbean coast glittering in shades of bright white and aquamarine. Saunter through the leafy Plaza de Bolivar, photographing multicolored streets like Calle Segunda de Badillo. Cruise to Cartagena to dance to the beat of merengue, salsa and Colombia's very own cumbia at places like Bazurto Social Club. Discover Proclamation Square, where the town people gathered in 1811 in support of the declaration of independence from Spain, and walk the 16th-century fortifications of Castillo San Felipe de Barajas. The small island of Bonaire is just 50 miles off the coast of Venezuela and packs both idyllic weather conditions and a layered culture into 111 square miles in the Caribbean Sea. As part of the Dutch ABC islands (which also includes Aruba and Curaçao), a trip to Kralendijk will uncover the influences of the Dutch as well as French, Spanish, African, Amerindian, Portuguese and British. Among the things to do in Kralendijk, observe this unique blend of cultures as you shop the local craft market, dine on fresh seafood or take in a museum. A drive through the island reveals the technicolor nature of pink lakes, while snorkeling or diving gives way to unspoiled underwater reefs.

Panama Islands in Boca del Toro
Packed with historical gems and natural beauty, Colon is a small Caribbean province in Panama that’s definitely worth your time to spend a few extra days exploring after your cruise. One of the best things do in Colon is visit the 17th century Fort San Lorenzo which was overtaken by Henry Morgan’s pirates. Continue your adventure with a trek through the tropical forests of Portobelo National Park where you’ll find beautiful coral reefs and countless wildlife. Or consider a day trip to visit the indigenous Emberá community. Be sure to include a stop at the Agua Clara Visitor’s Center on your vacation from Colon to see the inner workings of the Panama Canal, considered an engineering marvel.
The cruise might have ended, but there are still some great activities to enjoy in the area. If you flew into this port, be mindful of your departure flight time and plan accordingly.
