She’s Back…Navigator of the Seas Emerges After Massive Makeover

Guest blog by Lisa Lutoff-Perlo

It’s a very exciting week for us here at Royal Caribbean International. After spending a month in drydock, we’re pleased to announce Navigator of the Seas is completely revitalized and ready to resume year-round service from Galveston, Texas.

During her 31 days in drydock, 1,250 contractors and 1,388 crew members worked tirelessly to make the new Navigator of the Seas better than ever. This project included over 670,000 square feet of new carpet, upholstery and fabrics; 81 new staterooms (Panoramic, Oceanview, Interior and Superior Oceanview), and a bevy of refreshed dining options.

Sabor, for instance, is an all-new modern Mexican specialty restaurant, featuring a delicious and diverse menu of authentic—and even a few unexpected—Mexican dishes such as Oaxacan Ceviche of Red Snapper, Spicy Chicken Flautas, and Chicken and Roasted Corn Empanadas, topped with Green mole and spicy peanut sauce – to name a few.

Meanwhile, Navigator of the Seas’ guests will be the first to get a sneak peek of some of the dining options making their debut on Quantum of the Seas this fall.  Guests on board Navigator will be among the first to enjoy the fully revamped Chops Grille: The New American Steakhouse, featuring traditional steakhouse offerings with a contemporary flair.  Chops Grille on Navigator of the Seas will showcase brand new selections, such as the Veal Chop Parmesan and a Slow-braised Short Rib of Beef with Bordelaise sauce.

One of the features our guests are telling us they are very excited about is the installation of our FlowRider surf simulator, which is debuting in Texas for the first time.  We’re also extremely excited about the FlowRider, which is a very popular activity on our Freedom and Oasis class ships.

What’s more, Navigator of the Seas will be the first to feature some exciting technological enhancements, including the debut of our Virtual Balcony staterooms, which were first announced for Quantum of the Seas. With the new Virtual Balconies, guests in 81 of Navigators’ interior staterooms will get to experience expansive, real-time views of the ocean and destinations. Plus, vacationers on Navigator can also choose new Panoramic Ocean View staterooms, featuring floor-to-ceiling glass walls facing outward to provide breathtaking, unobstructed views all the time.

Beginning February 9, 2014, Navigator of the Seas will sail 7-night Western Caribbean itineraries every Sunday from Galveston, visiting beautiful warm-weather getaways in the Caribbean, including; Cozumel, Mexico; Roatan, Honduras; Belize City, Belize; Falmouth, Jamaica; and George Town, Grand Cayman.

Are you cruising on Navigator of the Seas this summer? What new additions are you most excited to see?
